Coexistence Model: Oracle EBS Payroll Integration with HCM Cloud

Businesses can easily integrate HCM Cloud with an existing E-Business Suite payroll implementation using the ready-made adapter: EBS Payroll Integration with HCM Cloud.

There are scenarios where businesses want to continue using Oracle EBS Payroll for payroll tasks but opt for Oracle HCM (Fusion Cloud) for HR related modules such as core HR, absence management, performance and goal management, and recruitment, among others.

The EBS Payroll Integration with HCM Cloud is a ready-made adapter that enables businesses to integrate HCM cloud with an existing E-Business Suite payroll implementation. This integration makes use of the existing extracts in HCM Cloud through which work structure data such as position, job as well as employee data is extracted and imported by Oracle EBS. This is how HCM Cloud data is synchronised with Oracle EBS data. This ensures that both the systems are synchronised, and Oracle EBS gets all the information required to run the payroll.

To know more about Fusion Practices' Oracle Implementation Services

To use this feature, we need to perform the following tasks.

Configuring the EBS systems to provide Fusion details

The EBS page is configured with Fusion details so that a handshake can happen between the two systems enabling EBS to read and write information from Fusion.

As shown in the screen above, following details are provided:

  • Server address: Fusion URL suffixed with _dav/cs/idcplg
    For example https://abctest.oraclecloud.com/_dav/cs/idcplg
  • Server port (Generally for Fusion, it is 443)
  • Server username: Fusion cloud username
  • Server password key: Key of cloud user password
  • Outbound folder: /hcm/dataloader/export (It is always this, as the extract output is generated in this folder of Fusion UCM)
  • Local staging folder: This is the EBS server path. For example /tmp/INTERFACE/PAYROLL_CONNECTOR

In the next step, we select one of the configurations which has been created in the above steps to proceed with the integration.

Select the configuration and click on the ‘apply’ button.

Importing the HCM Cloud reference data for setup mapping

In this step, we import cross reference data from Fusion by running cross reference extract in Fusion and then importing the same data in EBS.

  1. Run cross reference extract in Fusion.

Run business key map extract in cross reference file mode.

Copy the contend id which will be used in the following step to import this data.

2. Run import hcm cloud date:

Configuration Name = This is LOV and select the name of the configuration created in Step1

Pass file name as the content id which we had copied above

Business Object = CROSS_REFERENCE

Submit the Program.

Defining mapping

We can now define the mapping between EBS and Fusion objects due to the availability of the cross reference data of Fusion from the previous step.

We can map all the objects shown in the above diagram. Once you click on Launch Spreadsheet it will open an excel macro-enabled document which will be the placeholder for the mapping.

For example, in the screen below, we can map HCM Cloud Salary Basis to EBS Salary Basis.

Importing and Loading Data

Since we have done the mapping, we are ready to load Fusion Cloud data in EBS.

  1. Run the work structure, worker extract in Fusion and note the corresponding content id
  2. Run the Program highlighted below

We can pass one of the below values in Business Object

  • Work structure
  • Worker
  • Salary
  • Element Entry

You can schedule step 4 as per the business need to synchronise HCM cloud data into EBS—it may be daily, hourly, or monthly; while the steps 1 to 3 are only one-time activities to map the two systems.
